Rooted in History, Serving with Heart
Kaffivagninn, the oldest restaurant in Iceland, is situated by the harbor in downtown Reykjavík. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.
Kaffivagninn was established in 1935 by Bjarni Kristjánsson. Initially located at the corner of Pósthússtræti and Tryggvagata in Reykjavík, it was later relocated. The original Kaffivagninn operated from the back of a truck parked at Ellingsenplanið, inspiring its name, which translates to “The Coffee Wagon” in English. Today, Kaffivagninn remains deeply connected to its roots and is proudly located by the harbor in downtown Reykjavík. The restaurant serves a variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, along with coffee, cakes, and pastries.
